I was looking for my mom’s cobbler recipe that I had posted here years ago, and while scanning it over, I discovered not only was it incomplete, it made absolutely no sense. I apologize for anyone who tried to make it before, there was no way it would have worked. Here is the real-tried and true recipe.
Filling Ingredients:
- 4 cups berries
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 tablespoons butter

Batter Ingredients:
- 1 cup unsifted all purpose flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup butter
- 2 eggs, slightly beaten
- Splash of vanilla
- Dash of cinnamon

Instructions:
- Make filling:
- In medium bowl, combine berries, 3/4 cup sugar, 2 tablespoons flour, lemon juice, vanilla, cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 cup water.
- Pour filling into a greased 9×9 baking dish
- Dot with 2 tablespoons butter
- Preheat Oven to 375 degrees
- Make Batter:
- In medium bowl, combine all batter ingredients
- Beat with a wooden spoon until smooth
- Drop in 9 portions over filling space evenly (batter will spread during baking)
- Bake 35-40 minutes or until berries are tender and crust is golden (around 200 degrees F)

NOTE: You might notice that the ingredients list above differs from the “original recipe” image below. If found that the batter didn’t cover quite enough of the berries in practice.
